Performance Teams
We work inside companies with specific departmental or special project teams. These are manager sponsored teams that occur on an annual basis or from the beginning to the end of a project. As a peer group learning experience a number of important things are accomplished.
Team Building
First the team is learning a common language that they will be using on the job. This is a glue that will bind the team together more strongly. In the group setting they learn from each others successes and failures. In these groups we deal with real time issues as the examples for the learning process. This was not only does the team learn, they also resolve critical issues that are pressing in the moment. The Performance Team setting gives the team common goals to aspire to achieve and give each individual a support structure for accomplishing their specific objectives.
Manager Leverage
For the sponsoring manager this is an opportunity to leverage their time with the skill development process. Working with an entire team makes communication more efficient as the manage won’t have to say the same thing to a number of people separately. They can save the special items for a private conversation that can take a lot less time. The manager also has the opportunity to size up the skills of the people and test their commitment to see where they are strong and weak. This way the manager can make adjustments into the Performance Team Program to address issues that may not have been apparent when the group was launched.
Maximizing Team Performance
When a team works together rather than against each other, the results are significantly greater than normal. Learning to work as a team is also a benefit for the manager and their team. The performance of each individual is elevated and this can be enhanced by the Private Coaching Option that can be woven into the program. This can happen on a regular, recurring, or random basis as determined by the manager as to the skill development needs of the individual team members. The combination of Group and Private work optimizes that acceleration of people’s growth. This way the manager can compress the time frame it takes to get their team up to a high level of performance on a sustainable basis.
